Our Impact Through the Years

2019-2021 BENEFICIARY

Rose Brooks Center

FUNDS RAISED: $100,000
PROJECTS: Welcome Room, General Funding
DONATIONS: 97 bags of clothing

The first year of Do Good for Erin was a downright shock. To celebrate Erin’s birthday on December 15, some friends and family organized a comfy clothing drive with the hopes of rounding up a few bags for Erin’s employer, the Rose Brooks Center. That year — and the succeeding two years — brought in 97 bags of comfy clothes as well as $100,000 in cash contributions. With that windfall, Rose Brooks was able to fund a welcome room, which they dedicated to Erin, as well as ongoing support for the center’s many domestic violence survivors. Erin loved her job at Rose Brooks, and this was a notable way to forever cement the relationship.

2022 BENEFICIARY

Healing House

FUNDS RAISED: $150,000
PROJECTS: Erin’s House
DONATIONS: 70 bags of holiday jammies

The project between Do Good for Erin and Healing House in 2022 was a gigantic undertaking. Erin’s dad, Tom Langhofer, then a pastor at Church of the Resurrection and founder of the recovery program there, had volunteered hours at Healing House, so a joint venture was a natural part of the conversation. That year, Do Good for Erin raised $150,000 for the project and also collected 70 bags of new Christmas jammies. When it opened, Erin’s House was a stunning home for women in recovery. Residents have praised its level of comfort and found hope and community in a welcoming space.

2023 BENEFICIARIES

Rose Brooks Center & Friends of Yates

FUNDS RAISED: $154,000
PROJECTS: Transportation Fleet & New Playground
DONATIONS: 50 bags of sheet sets and clothes

Sometimes it’s hard to pick just one, so in 2023, Do Good for Erin decided to focus its efforts on both Rose Brooks and Friends of Yates. Friends of Yates, a shelter for survivors of domestic violence in Wyandotte County, was a new alliance, and it has turned out to be a lasting collaboration. The drive that year raised $154,000 in contributions and 50 large bags of sheets and comfy clothing. With their funds, Friends of Yates purchased needed transportation equipment and built a new playground. Erin’s former employer, Rose Brooks, was able to carve out and furnish a children's therapeutic playroom.

2024 BENEFICIARIES

Rose Brooks Center, Friends of Yates, Healing House

FUNDS RAISED: $160,000
PROJECTS: Passenger Van, Commercial Kitchen Renovation, Family Center & Playroom
DONATIONS: 70 bags of toys

The December 2024 drive was the first one that didn’t collect Erin’s signature comfy clothes. Instead, Do Good for Erin focused its attention on collecting toys for Rose Brooks, Healing House, and Friends of Yates. Even with the change, the group was able to round up 70 bags of toys for the three organizations. In addition, generous donors gave $160,000 to fund projects at each of the three. Rose Brooks purchased a passenger van that could take clients to and from appointments; Friends of Yates modernized and renovated their commercial kitchen to better accommodate the 25,000 meals they serve each week; and Healing House installed a Family Reunification Center & Playroom.

KU Scholarship Fund

Part of the mission at Do Good for Erin is to support those most likely to continue Erin’s good work. Erin graduated from the University of Kansas in 2016 with her bachelor’s degree in Social Welfare and, as an undergrad, received the Margo Award, the top prize in her department. The next year, Erin received her master’s degree, also from KU, and launched her career as a social worker and therapist. To emulate her passion, Do Good for Erin began awarding two $5,000 scholarships each year to students starting their master’s degree in KU’s School of Social Welfare. So far, Do Good for Erin has awarded $30,000 in scholarships to students who have been identified as having a lasting impact in the field.
